Third Trimester

By the start of the third trimester some pregnant women feel that time is starting to drag a little too much for their liking. Don't worry if that is how you are feeling, now that you are only 3 months away from D-day, it is time to start getting ready to meet your little bundle. Don't wish this period away, enjoy this last stage as much as you can, take time out for yourself and have fun getting organised for the baby's arrival.

What you should be doing

During the final stages of pregnancy you should start thinking about packing your hospital bag, try to get a birth plan written down - no matter how basic it is - and make sure that you have the essential items that you will need for the baby once they are home. This doesn't mean going over the top in the baby shops, as tempting as it may seem. Remember friends and family will probably want to buy little outfits and small items for the baby too.

Make the most of every opportunity that you get to rest. You will be told by every parent that you meet to 'make the most of your sleep while you can'. That might seem like ironic advice at a time when a huge bump, heartburn, a perpetual need to wee and bad dreams are all keeping you awake at night, but a newborn baby is likely to be even more demanding when he or she arrives.
